SAILING LOG60

October 29, 2004

My face got too much sun yesterday and I decide to stay inside as much as possible today. We eat an early breakfast, then tune into the radio network “Peri Peri” We can’t hear Fred and give up trying. Without warning a squall dumps onto us, we manager to catch a few litres of water before it passes over heading south.

We potter around finding chores to keep us busy. There is always so much to do… yes, and I thought I would have tons of time on my hands. Living on a boat is a simpler life, that’s true. We don’t watch television. We read instead, or talk for hours. We walk to the stores and the markets. We take joy in day-to-day chores and activities. We cook simple and healthy meals. We maintain our boat ourselves.

What can I say about this life on the sea… this life where the floor beneath us is constantly moving and changing – Is it what I expected?

Definitely not… Nobody ever fully prepares one for life afloat a sailboat.

Things constantly break – the weather gets bad – the seas often become horrendous – cabin fever becomes oppressive – one can go weeks without contact with family, friends or even strangers.
Some men still think that canada viagra generic online drugs can’t work as good as their branded counterparts can. It is a kind of male impotence in older men include Atherosclerosis, Diabetes and Hormonal http://amerikabulteni.com/2018/10/30/orta-amerika-gocmen-kervani-nedir-abdye-tehdit-haline-nasil-geldi/ on line levitra Disorder. It can become unbearably hot, uncomfortable, frustrating and intolerable. Then just when you think you can’t take another minute of it, the sea throws you a sunset so indescribably beautiful that your soul is filled with inspiration; or the dolphins appear out of the depths and present a production of water ballet no choreographer could match; or a gull lands in your cockpit exhausted and needing a rest and has you preoccupied with its presence, then it shakes itself spreads its wings and leaves you… richer for the interlude.

What I can say is this:  it is a life of extreme highs and extreme lows. The difference is that people who choose this lifestyle are the ones who focus on the positives, dealing with the negatives as something one just has to face in order to appreciate the good times. Living ones dreams is risky it often means taking chances and dealing with the consequences. It means not looking back but focusing on the goal, which for Wolf and I is to live with passion without regrets. It means striving for an extraordinary life, instead of opting for the ordinary – it means not taking orders from others but following our own hearts.

“This above all: to Thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.”…William Shakespeare

A good thing to remember is:

Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It just means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.
